• In its traditional form, chili verde is a hearty, vibrantly flavored pork stew that incorporates tart tomatillos, spicy peppers, onions and other fresh ingredients. Our Mexican-style Chili Verde Starter is as close to the real thing as you can get – and couldn't be easier to use. Just add pieces of browned pork or chicken and simmer to create a Mexican-style stew. For a mouthwatering summertime dish, use the starter as a sauce over grilled shrimp. It's also delicious as a topping for burritos and enchiladas.

Receiving Instructions

• Store unopened at room temperature for up to 24 months. Refrigerate after opening and enjoy within 7 days.

Preparation Instructions

• In Dutch oven over medium-high heat, brown 3 lb. (1.5 kg) cubed pork shoulder in 2 Tbs. olive oil for 8–10 minutes.
• Drain off fat.
• Add 1 jar chili starter and stir to combine.
• To continue cooking on stovetop, bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until tender, 2–3 hours. Alternatively, cover Dutch oven, place in 325°F (165°C) oven and cook until tender, 2–2 1/2 hours.
• Also great with chicken legs and thighs, as enchilada sauce, or spooned over grilled white fish or shrimp.
• Serves 6.
