Beautiful item not meant for daily use.

Beautiful item not meant for daily use. The handle gets scolding hot, the wobbly ball inside clinks and clanks when pouring in a pour over coffee cemex. The color already is going away after one week as it can’t handle high heat. Since it’s so pretty I gave it two stars but otherwise it’s not meant for frequent use.

    Disappointed in Simplex teakettle quality!

This copper teakettle is gorgeous on my stove, however I have only used it for two months and it is already pitting on the inside…I am so disappointed.

    Classic Tea Kettle

I love this tea kettle - it is a true classic. I had one for many years that finally got too tired and dented. I have tried several others in the meantime but am glad I came back to this one. If you polish it once a week it will always look nice and last for a long time. Love the whistle too.

    great copper tea kettle

Wonderful addition to my kitchen. It is a beautiful copper color and works as it should. I gave 4 stars because it is smaller than my previous one. I recommend.

    Defective Product

Newey & Bloomer has been knowingly manufacturing & distributing defective Simplex Kensington & Buckingham Tea Kettle's for several years. These kettles are supposed to last for 30+ years but the current batches start pitting on the inside bottom and begin to peel in spots within weeks. Newey & Bloomer is aware of it but has kept quiet while searching for a new manufacturer. I have an email confirmation from their ownership acknowledging the issue. They did not want to admit it and that's probably because they don't want to replace all the ones that have failed with the thousands of people that have bought them and don't know they're defective. I have to assume Williams Sonoma and all the other distributors are aware of it too because the number of returns must be enormous. Newey & Bloomer supposedly just found a new manufacturer/supplier (probably in China) and recently began shipping new batches of them, but ALL the old stock and what has been sold to existing customers is defective and should not be sold to anyone. It shouldn't even be sold at the Dollar Store and is worth nothing more than scrap. Your current inventory (as of 11/09/2023) of Simplex Kensington1 & 3 Kettles and Simplex Buckingham 1 & 3 Kettles are defective and should not be sold. All the Newey & Bloomer tea kettles should be recalled because I can only imagine the health risk for all the people like me and my family that have digested the Nickle lining into their systems. Newey & Bloomer may advertise they have been around since 1903 but the new ownership group is cutting corners because they are not the same people who manufactured the brand they were before buying this company from the original owners in 2005.

    Amazing Kettle

I have had this kettle for almost 2 years now. We use it daily, sometimes multiple times a day. It’s fantastic and beautiful. The water boils very quickly and the whistle works well and isn’t obnoxious. You do need copper polish to keep it looking new but we’ve only polished it a few times.

    ADORE this Gorgeous Kettle!

This is my second of these, the first was bought 20 years, and destroyed in a move, so this second one has only been around 5 years, but they can last forever if you take care of them and never boil them dry. The whistle is a soft, high pitch that grows louder the hotter it boils. Searched for quite a while to find a quality pot that could be expected to last and has a soft, pleasant whistle. The fact that it whistled - but softly - so it didn't wake the baby, but reminded me that I had something on the stove, was very important when we got the first one. Now, it is a lovely, comforting sound. The copper is lovely, and you can let it age, or keep it bright, you choose. The interior was still great on the first one - before it's untimely demise, never needed any attention, and the kettle was used many times a day, year round, I have kept one sitting on on my stovetop the past 20 years. I expect I will not need to purchase another one unless there is another unfortunate event. If so, I will buy this again, and may buy a new one as a wedding present when the time comes 😁. The only suggestion I can make is that I would love to have this in a 6 qt size, also. This is great for the 1-2 person pot of tea for breakfast, or personal pots, but doesn't go far for company visits with a mug and a chat. I would be ecstatic if I could find one large enough to be able to do a hot rinse of the pot and a fill for my lovely (80 oz) London Pottery Globe teapot, or my large Royal Doulton teapot (64 oz) with one boil when we have family or visitors, instead of having to resort to a saucepan.

    Way over the top maintenance

I love a bit of copper in the kitchen and I expected this to require some maintenance due to the nature of the material but this teapot has been a royal nightmare.I have All Clad copper core pans and a Mauviel Jam pot and they are not anywhere near this trouble. Having said that however, I have a gas stove now (I didn't have when I purchased pot) and I'm wondering if I should have purchased the one for gas cooktops. Would it really have made a difference. I would appreciate some feedback. PS The whistle works fine and it isn't a train whistle.
