Detail
Summary
The traditional French cassadou evolved in Provence, where hunters used the vessel to prepare stew from the day's catch. Similar to a Dutch oven with a long handle on one side, this lightweight, contemporary cassadou can be used as a deep sauté pan or braiser. It features Le Creuset's signature enameled cast-iron construction for superior heat distribution and retention. The durable enamel also minimizes sticking and staining, requires no additional seasoning and makes cleanup easy.

Who knew, a Cassadou!?
Perfection! I gifted a couple Le Creuset pots to my daughter and a Cassadou was one of them. Despite having Le Creuset for years, I never had, or even heard of, a Cassadou! I instantly fell in love when I saw hers and just had to get one for myself as well. I've used it multiple times already, and can see it quickly becoming one of my go-to items. The size is perfect in every way - the handle - the depth - I love it!

Most Utilitarian Piece
I absolutely LOVE the cassadou - I consider it the pick-up truck of my Le Creuset collection as it’s THE MOST utilitarian piece. The size is perfect for small and medium batches (I often make large batches and freeze or have dinners for several days) of stews, rice dishes, meat/vegetable ragus…you name it. Can’t go wrong with adding this one to your collection

Perfect for everyday cooking
This is a really great size pan for everyday use. It's not as heavy as a larger dutch oven (obviously), but it has the same function, plus it's great for baking bread too as the top is domed as well as braising. I got the color Rhone and it is stunning.

Versatile size; Le Creuset excellence
I have several Le Creusets and I was concerned about the shallow size and the handle because it was different than their traditional Dutch ovens but I am really liking this one because it’s midsize & versatile. The lapis blue color is beautiful.
