Great brand - smaller one is better

Chemex is a fabulous brand that makes the cleanest l, tastiest coffee you will ever drink. But I recommend the 6 cup. I decided to get an 8 cup so I can make more coffee than my 6 cup. Im not sure if the one I bought was defective, but the filter area has a longer, narrower opening than the 6 cup. As such, the slope creates more airlocks. I had to buy the clip to alleviate it somewhat.

More solid glass than prior model.

This is my second Chemex. This model is significantly more solid than the prior Chemex. I replaced the old Chemex as it developed a crack. Much happier with this new one.

use lots of filters

Its cool but they should include a washable filter. If you buy regular filters plan on using 3-4. I tried just one and the water busted through. Also if you like your coffee medium to dark plan on more scoops then what it says..

When I want a really great cup of coffee

Perfect size carafe. I purchased the Chemex filters also. Easy to handle. Great coffee every time. I like that I can place the carafe on my rangetop to keep coffee warm.

The collar is kind of a hassle to take off and put on every day. But it is functional and provides a decent cup of coffee.
