Breville Smart Fryer

Bought this to replace a smaller unit. Many people say they have trouble with the plug not staying attached to the unit, it is a bit tricky but in the end it is easily managed. Overall I like this very much. What could be added to the instruction sheet is that placing the head unit onto the outside frame is critical to operation. Should it not be placed correctly, the unit won't turn on

So glad we bought this fryer. Used to fry fish keeps the heat and fry beautifully. Would recommend to everyone

Great when it worked, but leaked massively

Disappointing Durability I was initially thrilled with my Breville Deep Fryer—it delivered crispy, evenly cooked food with easy-to-use controls and a sleek design. For the first few months, it performed flawlessly, making everything from fries to chicken wings with consistent results. However, my experience took a sharp turn for the worse after just a few months of moderate use. Out of nowhere, the fryer started leaking oil during operation, spilling half the oil onto my countertop and floor, creating a massive, slippery mess in my kitchen. Cleaning it up was a nightmare, and the oil damaged some of my kitchen surfaces. There were no obvious signs of damage or misuse, so I’m baffled as to why this happened. The fryer still functions, but I’m now hesitant to use it, fearing another leak. For a premium brand like Breville, I expected better durability and quality control. A fryer shouldn’t fail this dramatically after such a short time. I’m deeply disappointed and would caution others to consider more reliable options or at least be prepared for potential issues.

Faulty from the start

It didn’t work. Had to call Breville to get a new one sent which got delayed. There were no serial numbers on the unit or the box which made getting a replacement loads of fun! Will see how the replacement performs and go from there. First impression was not good, though.

Temperature & plug

Works great. Keeps temperature after adding food. Allows higher fry temperature than some other fryers. Relatively easy to clean. Only issue is you need to wedge something in to insure magnetic plug stays in place.

Power cord disconnects in use.

Fryer works well. The magnetic attached cord is a real problem, however, and any movement of the fryer causes the power cord to disconnect. Also somewhat difficult to reset timer during cooking.

I'm actually very happy with my smart fryer. I just need to start using it more often.

Doesn't keep heat because of the cord.

Electric cord will not stay in place. The prongs keep falling out causing the unit to shut off.
