    Summary

    The Kramer by Zwilling Euroline Damascus knife collection is a collaboration with world-famous master bladesmith Bob Kramer. Each knife is hand made to Kramer's exacting standards in the legendary cutlery center of Seki, Japan. A blade core of SG2 stainless steel is Cryodur ice-hardened for scalpel-like sharpness, then enveloped in a stunning 101-layer chevron Damascus design. The triple-riveted black linen Micarta handle features a signature Bob Kramer mosaic pin. This bread knife has a serrated blade that's ideal for slicing through fresh, crusty loaves without tearing.

    Use & Care

    Use

    • Always use caution when handling sharp objects.
    • Avoid cutting on hard surfaces, such as stone, metal and glass.
    • Use wooden or plastic cutting boards.
    • Do not use knife to cut frozen or semi-frozen food. 
    • It is not advisable to use any knife but a meat cleaver to cut through bone, as other blades can be easily damaged.

    Care

    • Hand-wash with warm water and mild detergent. 
    • Rinse and dry immediately.
    • Clean immediately after cutting acidic ingredients.
    • Maintain knife's cutting edge by regularly using honing steel.
    • Sharpen as needed. With regular use and honing, knife should not need sharpening more than once or twice per year.
    • Sharpen knife at home using sharpener specifically designed for serrated blade, or have it sharpened by a professional.
    • Store knife in safe place to protect edge and prevent injury.

    Sharp, efficient, but a little uncomfortable.

    Bread knife worth the bread

    [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The knife arrived, as have the other knives in this series, in a very solid and aesthetic black -in-black fully recyclable (or reusable) rectangular box, with an interior fitting that firmly seats the knife from motion while shipping. The knife has the same beautiful wave form as the other knives in this series--each with its own fingerprint of manufacture that appears simultaneously liquid and solid. The scalloped edge is elegantly carried throughout the knife's length, adding a liquid parallel to the surface texturing. The linen handle has a firm feel in the hand, and the curve at the base of the handle provides added leverage for the back and forth motion needed for slicing breads. We have only used it for a few products thus far, but it slices with extraordinary ease compared to the Ken Onion Rain bread knife we had been using. The edge seems razor sharp, and the sawing motion is almost effortless. An excellent addition to our growing series of Kramer Zwilling Damascus knives.

    superior cutting

    This is a great serrated knife. The construction is amazing. The wide handle is very comfortable to hold. The Bob Kramer design includes a beautiful chevron Damascus pattern on the blade. The high carbon steel is sharpened to an amazing edge and stays sharp for a very long time. The blade features two different length teeth allowing only the longer ones to come in contact with the cutting surface, keeping it sharper longer. It cuts with ease through the crustiest breads. Its great for citrus, melons, tomatoes and anything else with a thicker exterior and soft inside.
