    Long awaited pan & lid!

Great pan. Still breaking it in & getting used to it. I cooked a dish last evening that required adding a sauce at the end & mix with the meat & mushrooms well. I had to keep it warm while the rice was finishing & I tossed the salad. I turned the stove off & put the lid on. The sauce did not curdle. The dish was perfect. I follow the seasoning & cleaning instructions & the pena is building.

    Too heavy to be practical!

I received the twelve inch skillet and lid for a Christmas gift and would never think of returning it but I must say, it is WAY too heavy (over 13 lbs when it's empty!) for me to be able to comfortably use. I am in my seventies and use many iron skillets in my cooking. I can find no reason for the lid to made of cast iron; an aluminum or stainless steel lid would be so much easier and more practical! Two stars because it does cook well (though no better than my new or old Lodge skillets). The "corners" are supposed to facilitate pouring but it is very difficult to lift it high enough to pour from it when it is full and when I am able to pour liquids do not pour "true" - they make quit a mess. It is my least favorite iron skillet.

    Beautiful and cooks really well

I purchased the 10” with the lid at my local William and Sonoma store as a floor model. The craftsmanship is amazing and you can tell it is something you can pass down as an heirloom. The only thing I don’t like is that the end of the handle that is meant to be a hook can loose its gold color. I seared a steak and stuck it in the oven when my I noticed the gold color had changed. The seasoning on the skillet is better and easier to maintain then other high end brands. Overall a heavy, sturdy, and well made modern cast iron skillet

    STUNNING Cast Iron Skillet!

I absolutely love Cast Iron, and I have owned lots of different pieces, from high end pieces to low end Lodge brands. This is the most beautiful piece I have ever owned, and in terms of functionality, it’s perfect. It’s a smooth finish like a Smithey, and cooks just as beautifully, if not better (especially due to the octagonal shape for pouring and steaming). Worth every penny I paid.

    Best pan ever

I have had this pan since Aug, 2019. This pan is very heavy but the heaviness allows you to turn your burner off early because the pan will still be conducting lots of heat. I would suggest cooking bacon in it the first few times. You won't have to season it after cleaning because of the bacon grease. Cleaning this is a breeze. If you have grease wipe out as much as possible, rinse in the hottest water wipe out, dry, oil (if necessary)set on medium heat on burner for a few minutes so the iron can absorb any oil. If you have stuck on bits wipe out as much as you can put the pan on the burner on medium when the pan starts to heat add a small amount of water and use a flat metal turner to scrape it off (it will come right off, no elbow work, you're welcome). I do the same with my enameled cast iron (le crueset) using a silicone/nylon turner and it works like a charm every time.
