- Always use caution when handling sharp objects.
- Avoid cutting on hard surfaces such as stone, metal or glass.
- It is not advisable to use any knife but a meat cleaver to cut through bone, as other blades can be easily damaged.
Care
- Hand-wash with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse and dry immediately.
- Maintain knife's cutting edge by regularly using honing steel.
- Sharpen as needed. With regular use and honing, your knife should not need sharpening more than once or twice a year.
- Sharpen knife at home using whetstone or knife sharpener, or have it sharpened by a professional.

Love this carving set

It's a lovely set and I look forward to using it to carve the Thanksgiving turkey. The knife is well balanced and if it is anything like the previous Wusthof knives I've owned, I will be using it for decades.

Just like the professionals...a carving show!

I have long known that knives made of steel, especially from Germany or Japan are superb tools for one's kitchen. This was a gift for a special person who shares cooking responsibilites, especially smoking and grilling large types of protein (brisket, prime rib, turkey, ham, venison). It was gifted to make the carving of the dinner protein easier than with the existing economical cultlery owned. Also, it adds a bit of flair to the process as one watches the carving and serving in a choreographed movement. Hoping to continue to add to this "Chef's" collection. The most dangerous tool in the kitchen is often a flimsy or unsharp knife!
