Philips Compact Pasta Maker for Two

Discontinued - what a waste of money.

Lasted just a year before mixing lid broke and sensors rendered machine useless. Not spending duty and shipping to bring in replacement from US.

Compact and easy to use.

To cut to the chase, I really like this machine. It's compact enough, that it doesn't take up much counter space in a kitchen as small as mine, so it's ready to use at a moment's notice. Working out the amounts of water and flour to use can take some experimentation, particularly if using non-wheat flour. I currently use mostly garbanzo (chickpea) flour, and will experiment with adding buckwheat (not a grain) flour to the dough, so some trial-and-error is expected. It has been a delight to enjoy fresh pasta, with homemade tomato sauce. Some flour products will give a greater yield than others. For example, the garbanzo flour that I buy in bulk yields more pasta, and therefore less dough to clean up, than the packaged brands that I have used. One important bit of information that is not covered in the instructions is that the optimal consistency of dough is not the stretchy type, as one looks to create for bread or manually-rolled pasta, but that of crumbled feta cheese. Cleanup is easiest if done right after making the pasta, rather than waiting for the dough to turn to wallpaper paste. If there's one unfulfilled item on my wish list, it's for a shaping disc that allows one to make fusilli.

Good pasta maker for beginners!

A fun pasta maker for beginners without investing too much money. The spaghetti came out beautifully… the fettuccine not so much. Looking forward to trying the penne! Happy with my purchase!

Pasta won’t load into extruder

Pasta won’t load into extruder. We followed directions exactly and used a scale to measure all ingredients. Would not recommend this product.

Flour can get stuck often

Flour does get stuck to the side panels. I read all the trouble shooting tips and I use a combination of flours as suggested - I add exact measured water too as some users say too much water causes this problem. My disappointment however, lies with WilliamSonoma. Its policy on price adjustment seems wasteful and unnecessary for good customers who usually don’t return items. I hadn’t had my pasta maker not even one week when it went on sale for $80 less! That’s a big deal for me. I’m a microscopic business owner and free time cooking is what I look forward to when I get a break. The pasta maker and soup maker were a splurge. But the only way to get the price adjustment, I was told both by the store and by customer service is to return the pasta maker and buy a new one. I feel that would be wasting a product even if it’s a product I’m still working out the kinks with. WilliamSonoma needs a better price adjustment policy especially when the purchase is just under a week for pasta and under a month for soup maker.
