Disappointed with the most important feature - the toasting!

I bought this toaster because of the ‘diecast’. This implied a solid, very good quality to me. Seems just a marketing hook. I wanted a solid toaster that toasts well. All these bells and whistle are not necessary. It does not toast well. We continually have to go a bit more. It is very inconsistent. This is the second one. I had to send the first one back to Breville under warranty due to uneven toasting. Please just make a simple toaster that toasts properly. Forget all the electronic stuff.

Love this toaster! Never thought I would pay this much for a toaster but it meets all my expectations and well worth it.

Thrown away after 2 years, impossible to clean

This product worked great until it had to be thrown away after two years. The crumb tray at the bottom does not catch all crumbs and there is no way to take apart the toaster to clean it so I had mine start smoking after 2 years of mild use and proper cleaning. I have no ability to investigate where its smoking from or cleaning further due to proprietary screws on the bottom. Breville warranty is only one year so its going in the dumpster. Normally like Breville but this is a loser of a product.

Browns bread evenly

After many toasters, I finally got one that actually browns bread on both sides evenly.

Works great until it doesn’t

We’ve had this toaster for a little over 2 years, if that, and while it worked amazing at the start, by the end of the first year one side of element panels stopped working. We still found it useable by flipping the bread that was toasted on that side though it was inconvenient. Today the elements barely work at all. Toast comes out barely warm. Waffles are still cold to the touch. Very disappointing considering the cost.
