    Pretty kettle but poorly made!

First, this is a beautiful kettle. I've owned two now in almost 28 years but there's a huge difference in the quality of the second which was given to me as a gift after the first one corroded on the bottom after 25 years of daily use. The second kettle had problems from day one. The lid was extremely tight and I had to struggle to remove it and put it back on. My whole family hated struggling with it too. I kept thinking that over time it would loosen up but never did. That was my mistake but I needed the kettle and didn't want to wait for a replacement to come from England. Then after using the kettle for about one year, I noticed that the inside tin lining was wearing off showing copper underneath. That did not happen with my first kettle and considering the cost of $400, the lining should not wear off after one year. So I hoped that there could be some resolution from the company and sent three email messages to their customer service alerting them to these problems and never got a response. While I very much miss my first Simplex Buckingham No. 3 kettle, I would not recommend buying a new one due to the poor quality, high cost, and unresponsive customer service. Additionally, their website shows only 5-star reviews for this kettle. I tried posting this very honest 1-star review but it does not appear with all the other reviews which are only 5-star. I have to wonder how many other reviewers tried posting their poor reviews that aren't shown on their website.

Beautiful, but…mine needs to be re-lined!!!

As I type this, I’m in tears! This beautiful Teapot was given to me as a gift and I have cherished it for three years! However, my husband, of whom makes more tea than I, said that the bottom of the interior has worn off and we can no longer use it for fear of metal getting into our bloodstream! He reached out to the company in England and they recommended a company here in the US to re-line the bottom! Now, is my logic off? If you pay over $400 for a teapot, don’t you think that they could have designed it so that if water is left in the bottom overnight, which happened in my case, (They recommend that there be no standing water inside after you use it) that this de-lining issue wouldn’t occur? I’m so sad, plus, angry!!! Now, if we choose, we have to send it off to get re-lined!!! C’mon!!! What has happened to quality???

The last kettle you’ll ever need!

This is the gold standard in kettles! Beauty and function with excellent craftsmanship. Heats up quickly with a whistle that doesn’t make you want to rip off your ears. To protect the life of your coil, Don’t use it on high. This kettle is designed to heat up quickly on lower settings. A beauty that is destined to be an heirloom!

You’ll never need another tea kettle!

I bought this tea kettle back in 2008 at a W-S store in Massachusetts. I had always wanted one and have used it ever since. It’s beautiful and efficient and the quality of the manufacturing is top notch. This definitely fits the old saying “you get what you pay for”. Love Williams-Sonoma and the continued top quality of all it sells.

Great kettle. Boils fast and does not spurt when pouring like so many other kettles. I use it for Melita coffee and just turn down the gas once kettle is boiling so that the whistle is nearly inaudible during the multiple pours. The wooden handle on the boiling kettle is cool enough to hold with your bare hand. A winner!

    Must Have Kettle!

The kettle is as beautiful in person as it is in the photo. It steams quickly, handle does not get hot, and it makes a great proper cup of tea.
