Dangerous, shoots boiling water every time I pour

This kettle has a beautiful design, but that is the only positive. There is clearly a design flaw. Every time I pour the boiling water, it shoots out of the spout. This is a safety hazard. I tried contacting Mauviel customer service, but they tell me "no one in France will comment" on this issue and they refuse to refund or replace my kettle. Incredibly disappointing. Williams Sonoma hasn't answered their customer service number either when I call them.

    Beautiful but Dangerous

I want to love this, but no matter how careful I am I can't stop this from violently vomiting boiling water. Would return if I still could.

    Rusted!!!

It’s absolutely shocking that it’s rusted on the inside rim! I’ve only used it a handful of times and yes, water may have sat in it for a while, but it’s clearly not 100% stainless steel! I tried to add a photo, but the review won’t let me.

    Beautiful Bouilliere!

Beautifully manufactured and looks stunning on our range. Large water volume. Good pour control. Tricky to remount cover so we fill from the spout. It is old school and DOES NOT whistle so one must listen for the « rumble » or just pay attention!

    Mauviel Teakettle purchase

I have to say I was a bit disappointed in this teakettle. The finish on the surface is not what I expected compared to the photo and compared to other stainless teakettles currently on the market. The finish shows brush marks and in general isn't as polished or shiny as I expected. And the packaging for shipping was haphazard. The lid came loose during shipping and was banging around -- metal against metal -- inside the box. I would have thought the lid would have been wrapped in plastic and secured in place. It wasn't in keeping with what I typically expect from Williams-Sonoma. The kettle is "good enough" but certainly not of the quality the photo indicated.

Copper kettle has a lining, what is it

What is the interior of the copper version of this kettle lined with? It is a grey sparkling lining and it is course to touch, I have not seen anything like it before, I do not think it is stainless steel.

    Beautiful and fast boil

I have had my lovely Mauviel copper kettle for about 5 months. It does not whistle, which is totally fine for me, as I am usually in my kitchen while it heats. I have used Copperbrill on it once and it shined as it should. It has maintained its shine ever since, albeit there are water spots which is to be expected (but shining it removes these spots). When the kettle arrived, it needed to be shined so I used salt and vinegar (I think that's the concoction) because I had not yet received the Copperbrill. It shined it nicely and I haven't seen any brass at all. Copper is very sensitive, though...so if you don't want the upkeep, this kettle probably isn't going to fit into your lifestyle. I have inspected the inside and there are no rusty parts or anything corroding - but I pour all water out of it so the water will not sit and cause any potential damage. I also do not use filtered water, I use tap water. The handle also gets hot (I use a gas stove) so I purchased a pot holder designed for the handle. I waited to get this kettle because it was expensive (for me, anyway) and I am so glad I purchased it. It's BEAUTIFUL on my stove and I stare at it quite often. I look forward to using it every day. It looks just like the picture on the website.

    Beautiful and functional

I have been using this kettle for over a month now. I was concerned by some of the reviews but knowing the quality of the Mauviel cookware I decided to buy the copper kettle. The inside of the kettle is stainless steel so it cannot rust (note that I contacted Mauviel France to confirm that). If you see stains in your kettle it may come from deposit in your water or just the discoloration of the metal. The handle is warm but if you don't overheat the kettle (let the water boil for several minutes) you can grab the handle without protection. The kettle does not whistle but it is quite easy to spot the steam coming out of the spout. This is a large kettle and it is very mice to be able to prepare enough water for everybody's tea in the morning without to prepare a second kettle! I use my kettle everyday, I let the copper age because I like it but Mauviel sells a paste to keep the kettle shiny. I am extremely satisfied with this kettle and with William Sonoma Customer Service.

    RUST :(

Loved the design and function of this kettle (do need a towel to hold when hot), but I found rust after just 1 week along interior bottom corner. This one's going back to W-S.
