Great coffee make

After extensive research for the perfect brew of coffee, I purchased the handmade moccamaster. Several chefs came back with this coffee maker. As I recall it had to do with fresh beans, the exact temperature of the water, the right amount of time for the water to pass through as well as the filter to use. I've had mine for over 10 years and would take my coffee "peets" over other straight coffees at the Starbucks of the world. A really great home brewed coffee has saved me thousands over the last ten years. If this maker ever wears out I'm getting another one. PS I write under 5 reviews per year.

Coffee maker is fine, thermal carafe not so much

This is a large and tall coffee maker. I wanted a 10-12 cup coffee maker with a thermal carafe. The coffee quality is fine. I think it is all about the beans you use, I am not sure so sure that one coffee maker "brews" a better pot than another. But, make sure you have room for this to fit where you want it. It is quite tall. The thermal carafe has been disappointing regarding how hot it keeps my coffee. My smaller thermal carafe with my old coffee maker was superior in keeping the coffee hot for an extended period of time (through the morning). This is a main sticking point for me. I wouldn't purchase this moccamaster again for this reason. I find myself having to heat my coffee from this carafe.

Favorite coffee maker

This is my second Moccamaster. My first one I had for several years and it was still going strong but with changes in my household, I needed a larger coffee pot. The simplicity and reliability of these coffee makers make them a pleasure to own. I have never had a problem with either of them. The coffee that is brewed tastes like perfection. I also love the thermal carafes as we usually take a couple of hours to finish our coffee.

Great quantity of hot coffee quickly

Reading reviews made me hesitant to purchase this coffee maker, but I am glad I did! My household consumes a lot of coffee-and we keep somewhat different hours-I wanted good coffee in sufficient quantity that would stay warm for a few hours without scorching. The Moccamaster meets all of those plus some-the speed and simplicity make it no big deal to make another pot. The thermal carafe keeps it warm for many hours, even when it isn’t full and it pours fairly well. The coffee maker is simple, which I love and makes good coffee. The only problem was that our order was back ordered and we weren’t informed by Williams Sonoma until after it should have been delivered.

Do yourself a favor and remove the "stop brew" lever on the brew basket. If you can't wait for a pot of coffee to brew for 8 minutes you might have issues. The reason I say this that at some point it will get closed by "accident" and you will have real mess on your hands. That aside, I thought that this would make a hotter pot of coffee than our French press, it does not. Granted it makes good coffee, just not as hot as we would like. BTW, we use 75 grams of fresh ground coffee per pot. I know they recommend 100 grams but we drink a dark roast and we feel that that amount is too bitter. I hope this helps. Cheers

Too tall.

Double checked the measurements before ordering but when it arrived it would not fit under my upper cabinets. The little handle on the top of the water reservoir lid made it too tall. Add about 1/4 inch to the height measurement if this is a concern for you.

Absolutely perfect

I bought this exact model 7 years ago, it was actually priced higher then, and have used it 1-2 times per day since. Buy 12-cup commercial filters in bulk (I like unbleached ones I get through Amazon or online restaurant supply companies, very cheap). It's unbelievable, makes the BEST coffee. I wore out the basket by pulling the little stopper so many times to get a cup while it was brewing that I ordered a replacement basket from the company. I hope this thing keeps going like my mom's old 70's commercial Bunn that was still going strong into the early 2000's. Great coffee maker, wouldn't even look at any other.
