Care
- Before cleaning, remove coffee beans from hopper and grind any remaining beans through machine.
- Unplug grinder before cleaning.
- Hand-wash all removeable parts. Do not wash burrs with water or they will rust.
- Do not clean any parts in dishwasher.
- To remove hopper, rotate completely counterclockwise so grind setting indicator is aligned with triangle near grind setting #40. Lift hopper off grinder. If hopper gasket comes off, install it on ring burr by placing it thick side down within top rim so it does not get lost.
- To reinstall hopper, check that hopper gasket, ring burr and cone burr are all installed properly. Grip the grind adjustment tabs and ensure grind adjustment ring is rotated fully counterclockwise. Align grind setting indicator on hopper with triangle near grind setting #40. Push down on hopper and rotate it clockwise until it clicks.
- Wipe exterior clean with damp cloth.

Careful of the scammers
We bought the grinder at Novi’s Twelve Oaks store, where a sales associate got us a ‘new’ grinder from the back. When we got it home, we noted the grinder was electrically suited for Europe, and we could not plug it in! When we took it back in, the store personnel told us, this was not their first experience with having a piece returned that was obviously NOT new! We did not open the box at the store, so could not have known! The personnel could not have been more accommodating, getting us another grinder w/o any issues! And, the grinder is superb!!highly recommend

disappointed
I reviewed several grinders and this one was supposed to be one of the best. What a disappointment! I needed a new one because my Breville needed sharpeniing...it is spewing grounds all over my counter...well, this brand new Baratza spills grounds under the grind cup and on the counter also. I will be returning it and get another Breville, which worked very well until it needed sharpening. DebbieHde

Easy to Use
Quality grinder with straight forward control. Consistency when weighing beans before and after the grind suggests that little is being caught up in the grinders inner workings

Works well but clogged after 2 uses
Works well but clogged after 2 uses. We had to use a pipe cleaner to clear it. Maybe it’s the oily dark-roasted coffee beans. Hoping it won’t be a maintenance time-suck.

Great staple in your espresso set up!
Great, consistent grind for espresso and very user friendly! Purchased this 4 months ago and I’m so glad I did. I have the Gaggia Classic Pro which does not come with a built in grinder. Highly recommend for espresso!

Baratza Burr Grinder Does a Great Job!
The Baratza Burr Grinder does a great job grinding coffee beans for use in my French Press. Also, I appreciate that it is not very noisy.

Great design that lives up to its heritage.
This is an upgrade from a 14 year old Encore, and the difference is noticeable. Much better for espresso than the original even when new. That said, the one I received had some production issues--a fissure in the top burr, a wobble in the bean hopper when grinding, and imprecise alignment of the grind size adjustment. Baratza has offered to replace, but has yet to ship a replacement.

Baratza Burr Grinder
Baratza ESP burr ginder is a wonderful piece of kitchen equipment. It grinds coffee beans to perfection for our Aero Press coffee maker. It is easy to operate and easy to clean. It also has a fairly small footprint on our kitchen counter

Proceed with caution
Got the ESP as an upgrade from much-loved Encore after purchasing a Breville Bambino Plus. Am currently working with manufacturer to resolve rattling hopper which loosens the retaining screw and messes with grind accuracy. Have wasted a lot of coffee. I would rate even lower but am convinced the folks at the company are invested in sorting this out. TBD. Have seen others have had the same issue but seems the exception, so I do remain optimistic!

Received Encore not Encore ESP
I'm new to espresso. I ordered the encore esp but received the regular encore. I didn't realize the difference until after a couple of weeks of unsatisfactory results (not able to fine tune for espresso). I had already thrown away the box and all packaging. Be careful and know the difference between the encore and the encore esp! They look very similar.
