Just like Italy hotels.

Discovered this SMEG in Italy. Several hotels had it in room. Love it to get water for tea fast. Like the silver unfinished to avoid any concerns with finish bubbling I read about. So far all great.

SMEG Does Not Care. Breville Does Care

I read some negative reviews on Williams Sonoma under the Breville "Soft Top® Pure Tea Kettle" with Breville responding apologetically and offering to help customers with all their concerns. Breville is a company that appears to take responsibility for their products, and cares about their customers. However, SMEG appears to be arrogant, indifferent and takes NO responsibility for their products because when I called SMEG's Customer Service they did not offer any adequate alternative for their poorly made Electric Kettle. The appearance of a product in only superficial, but the performance is absolutely necessary.

SMEG is UNRELIABLE. Avoid the Headache.

UNRELIABLE. We purchased the SMEG 56 oz Electric Tea Kettle and expect the name to be consistent with quality and excellence, but we are very disappointed after 3-4 years the SMEG Electric Tea Kettle would not turn-on. Two responsible, and careful adults have kept the SMEG Electric Tea Kettle in such brand-new condition. I checked the plug, cord, base, bottom of the kettle (where electrical contacts are located), and the side-lever. There is no visible damage on the cord, SMEG base, bottom of SMEG Tea Kettle or side lever. Checked wall outlet as well. We called SMEG for service but they have no repair service and no local referrals for service. They only offered a new base for $95 or purchasing a new SMEG Electric Tea Kettle. These options are unsuitable after paying so much for a product that should last a lifetime rather than only 2-3 years. We do not purchase expensive items to simply dispose of them.
