    Use & Care

    Use

    • Removing bean hopper: Remove all beans from hopper then press front-mounted pulse button to grind any remaining beans through grinder. Remove plug from power outlet. Remove hopper by rotating it counterclockwise until it stops and then lift hopper off of grinder.
    • Removing ring burr: Pull black silicone gasket off top of ring burr. Remove ring burr by lifting it straight up out of grinder by lifting tabs. If burr does not lift out, ensure that grind adjustment ring is turned fully counterclockwise.

    Care

    • Wash grounds bin, hopper and hopper lid in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry.
    • If grinder is used daily, burrs should be cleaned at least every few months using tablets or with stiff brush. Proper cleaning enables burrs to achieve consistent grind. Cleaning also removes some coffee oils, which will degrade flavor.

Loud, messy, wasteful but gets the job done?

It’s louder than you would think. In addition, some of the coffee grounds spill out of the container whenever I grind my beans. However, it grinds the beans well for my filter coffee! :) On a final note, I thought the packaging was wasteful: There were a total of four boxes that I had to unpack in order to retrieve the grinder which I thought was overkill. I hope that they find a more waste-efficient way to pack this.

    OK, Not Great

After trying a number of grind settings on the Encore, I found one that works best with my coffee maker to give me the taste I want. The things about the grinder I don’t care for have to do with ease of use. The burrs on the grinder are a little difficult to seat. The cup is also a challenge to fit in place so it will rotate to the correct grind setting. The top to the cup doesn’t fit tightly and falls off easily when the grinder is moved about. Once the beans are ground, it is a messy process to transfer the grounds to the coffee maker. It may have something to do with the design as I didn’t have this problem with my previous machine.

    So far so good!

This grinder works great thus far. I am a coffee snob and just discovered the pour over coffee method and it looks like I found a great cup of coffee.

It works. It’s OK, but I’ve had better.

OK. Seems a bit low quality. I had an OXO grinder before this and it was sturdier. I don’t care for the on-off switch either.

    On my third grinder

Noisier than my older model. We were happy with our older model but it stopped grinding the coffee after 4 Years of daily use for 2 people. This model is nosier but hoping for the best. We tried to repair the older model but despite persistent efforts never could reach anyone at the baratza repair service department who could help—phone call messages never returned. Like the design, hoping this one holds up.

    Dont buy into the hype

Finally got around to trying to fix this product. I consider myself a heavy DIY’r and product designer by trade. Replacing the paddle wheel is a joke. Knowing this is a weak point in this product, this should not be this complicated to replace. Really poor engineering. One basically has to take the entire product apart to replace this simple part. I bagged it after a short time. For $150 just not worth it. I’ll purchase a new unit but try another brand. After 1 year of light use, this is terribly disappointing. This was my email to customer service.

    Good product, poor delivery service

I love the Baratza grinder so much that I ordered this on April 9 for my daughter’s birthday which is April 20. I was notified that delivery would be by April 14 in plenty of time for her birthday. I checked the order status regularly and as of April16 it still had not shipped. After several calls to Williams Sonoma I was told that the warehouse did not have the item and they would have to cancel the order, rebook it at another warehouse and rebill me. This was done but I did not receive the item until April 23, missing my daughter’s birthday. I was very happy with the item but not happy with Williams Sonoma’s order and delivery.

    Dis******ted

    Terrible! Don't believe the hype!

I ordered this after getting a higher end coffee maker because it was so highly rated. I'm not sure how it is so highly regarded. First of all this grinder is not cheap. Out of the box it would not grind coffee fine enough to even brew. Looking around the internet you have to take it apart and move a tiny little screw to "calibrate" the machine. They ship them on one of 6 different settings. After calibration the grinder still grinds ultra coarse. This has to be one of the worst "high end" products I have ever purchased. Do not buy this item. It's likely all the positive reviews are bought or planted by the company. This product is absolute garbage. Beware!

    Good Grinder

Good machine. Simple to use. Like the variable grind settings. Noise is tolerable for The short period of use. Cleaning is a bit difficult but can be done adequately well. Would recommend to others.
