    Use & Care

    Care

    • Rinse filter basket and portafilter under hot water after each use to remove residual coffee oil.
    • After each use, perform a clear-water backflush before you turn off machine. Empty drip tray. Insert cleaning disc into filter basket, then insert portafilter into group head. Select Brew button and allow pressure to build for 20 seconds, then touch to stop and release pressure. Repeat this 5 times to purge any fine coffee grounds and residual coffee oil from brew water paths.
    • After each use, thoroughly wipe steam wand and tip clean with damp cloth and purge immediately. Failure to clean steam wand may affect milk-texturing performance.
    • Wipe housing and cup-warming tray clean with soft, damp cloth. Polish with soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleansers, pads and cloths, which can scratch surfaces.
    • Use Descale function when prompted by machine; alert will appear on screen.

    Wonderful cappuccinos

The Breville Oracle Jet Espresso Machine is fantastic! We love making our own cappuccinos, americanos and other espresso drinks at home. It is very easy to use and the customer service at Williams & Sonoma in SF was top notch.

    Excellent Machine

This was a bit of an impulse purchase but we are enjoying every drop of coffee from this beautifully made machine. We’re experimenting with different coffee drinks and researching specialty beans. Very happy with our purchase!

    Inconsistent Tamping

I've had this machine for about 5 months now and I am yet to get consistent tamping from it. Most times the coffee in the portafilter is not fully tamped. At first, I thought it was because of the coffee beans I was using (I roast my own), so I decided to buy roasted beans to try. The results are the same. This results in inconsistent pours. A single shot pours anywhere between 20 and 50 seconds with the same beans and grind settings. I went to the troubleshooting guide and followed some of their suggestions, like wetting the portafilter before dispensing, but the results are the same. I expected better from a machine at this price point.

    The jury is still out

The first two cups of coffee were amazing, then none of them tasted like that again. I’ve tried adjusting the grind size. Over and over. Dumping shots. Wasting coffee. I can’t get it to how it tasted the first two times no matter what I do. Man I would love some help figuring it out. It’s no better than the cheap machine I just replaced it with and I hope I can figure out why.

    Limited Capability

Stops making a full grind after a few months. If you are looking for cold brew this machine does not produce what most people would consider to be quality cold brew. It is more of room temperature diluted coffee.

    Waste of Money

If you are ordering this product for cold brew, please think again the cold brew is disgusting. Stopped grinding properly six months in. Would only grind about a tablespoon of coffee and then stop. Williams Sonoma does not offer any assistance and Breville will also not help with this problem. You’re basically flushing your money down the toilet.

Dumpy machine made costly by bells and whistles

Wildly inconsistent grinding and autotamping, and the need to manually stop the extraction before the pre-set process ends is fine, but largely defeats the purpose of the machines semi-automatic billing. Spent many weeks measuring my inputs and outputs in attempt to dial in a consistent shot, but the variability and inconsistency prevent any feel or mastery of the machine (and the time to reach this realization placed me squarely outside the return window). My kids think the hot chocolate function is great, the parents find the espresso painfully inconsistent and unreliable. The cost of this machine is a reflection of its bells and whistles, none of which contribute to a high quality. I’ll ride out this device until I break even, then transition to a machine with less digitization and smart features, more quality construction and reliability.
