    Summary

Brothers Jordan and Jared Schmidt lend a designer's sensibility to both the knives they create and the wood blocks that stow them. An eclectic mix of FSC-certified acacia wood, BPA-free acrylic, magnets and brushed steel, Schmidt Brothers' modern, space-saving storage block showcases cutlery while protecting hands from blades. The two-sided magnetic block stows up to 18 knives behind a scratch-resistant sheet of clear acrylic, making it easy to access exactly the knife you're seeking and slide it back into place after use. At only 3 1/2" deep, it takes up minimal counter space, making it ideal for even the most compact kitchens.

    • Crafted of natural, FSC-certified acacia wood, making each block unique.
    • Acrylic safety covers are BPA-free.
    • Space-saving, two-sided design.
    • Embedded magnets secure knife blades to the block.
    • Holds up to 18 knives.

    Acacia Downtown Magnetic Knife Block

I live in a house with cats. This is a very attractive solution to the co-existence of knives and cats

    Knife block

It’s even prettier in person. Heavier than I expected, holds all my knives and takes up less space than my old one. Magnets are very strong.

    Impressive Compact Knife Block

We love our Schmidt Bros Downtown Knife Block. So compact and looks so handsome. It takes substantially less space than our previous block.

    Shakes

The bar that mounts to the wall does not lie flush because the screw is in the wrong place creating a gap between the wall and the bar. "( So when you pull a knife from the magnet it shakes or bangs. It would be easier to show in a video versus a photo Design is beautiful tho.

    Pretty but flawed

It does what it says on the tin, but like many others who have reviewed it, the French cleat mounting system is simply bad. I thought maybe those folks hadn’t tightened it down enough, so I really made sure my mount bar was tight to the wall. Despite the effort, it wobbles. Add to that the fact that the cleat doesn’t capture/prevent any horizontal movement, so once it’s hanging, the bar can slide freely left and right (up to a limit), which is also just poor design. This object clearly is designed for mass production and lacking in human-centered design.

    great for Cutco knives

I decided to get rid of my cutco knife block since it was looking kind of shabby. I purchased this magnetic knife block. It works as advertised and actually holds more knives than the cutco block that I had....for less $$.

A different kind of knife block

Love the knife block. It holds all sizes and manners of knives and scissors. ✂️ It’s tall though and doesn’t fit under the kitchen cabinet.

High quality. As advertised. Room for 5-6 large knives per side.

    Nearly perfect...

I had noticed that the means of attachment of the clear shield seemed to show part of the hole drilled into it in some of the pictures. It turns out that these holes are apparently elongated and that the grommet is insufficiently sized to cover the full hole. The grommets are bright white which draws attention to this deficiency. There surely must be a more elegant solution. Like others, I had a small splinter missing from the squared edge on the top, this should have been rounded slightly to improve access to the slot and prevent chipping. Good idea, but less than perfect execution. I like the safety aspect of having the cover, but not the way it is attached, which seems crude and not thought out very well.

    Practical and Elegant

This knife holder was a big splurge for me. For a few years I've looked at knife holders, and didn't see any that fit my purposes. I wanted to be able to see my knives, so I didn't want drawer organizers. Wooden Block designed knife holders don't show the blades. Then I came across THIS ONE. Not only is it a practical design, it's beautiful. After I bought it, I took most of my knives to the business that sharpens and restores them. I wanted the knives to look as good as the holder they're in. I'm very pleased.
