    Summary

We developed our signature line of wooden cutting boards to be both beautiful and functional. Designed to protect the sharpest blades, the boards also provide stability during use and look handsome enough to keep out on the counter. These end-grain boards feature traditional butcher-block construction, with the wood pieces oriented vertically to maximize scratch resistance and minimize impact on cutting edges.

    • Crafted of sustainably harvested yellow birch or walnut.
    • End-grain construction provides exceptional strength and durability and won't dull knife blades.
    • Hand grips are carved into sides for easy lifting.
    • Doubles as rustic serving piece for breads, cheeses and appetizers.
    • Finished with food-safe mineral oil.
    • Designed and made exclusively for Williams Sonoma.

    Dimensions & More Info

    • Medium: 18" x 13" x 1 1/2" thick.
    • Large: 22" x 16" x 1 1/2" thick.

    Use & Care

    Use

    • Board should be seasoned with food-grade mineral oil before first use.
    • To season board properly, apply oil in direction of wood grain using clean, dry cloth. Allow oil to soak in and repeat with another application. Allow board to dry and wipe off any excess oil.

    Care

    • Hand-wash with hot, soapy water. Dry thoroughly.
    • Do not soak or submerge board in water.
    • Occasionally rub with food-safe mineral oil to keep wood from drying out.
    • To sanitize, wash board with solution of one part vinegar to five parts water.
    • Remove odors by rubbing board with kosher or table salt and half a lemon. Let sit for 2–3 minutes then wipe clean with damp cloth. Remove excess moisture with clean paper towel and stand board on end to air-dry.
    • Store in dry area away from extreme temperatures.

    Buy at your own risk

Beautiful looking bored however, one day it started to crack right down the middle. We bought it only about 14 months ago! We oiled it regularly with WS Cutting Board Mineral Oil. For the price of this board that is unacceptable in my opinion.

    Can crack (read for details).

Buy this board at your own risk. Beautiful board that suddenly split along a glue joint, despite being regularly oiled with food-grade mineral oil. Williams-Sonoma refused to do anything about the product and claimed that this is "normal wear and tear", leaving me with an expensive split cracked piece of wood. High-end end-grain boards are heirlooms that are supposed to last for years when they are cared properly. This one cracked after less than 2 years. I understand that wood is a natural product and defects do happen, but when a high-end retailer does not stand behind its products it is very disappointing. Since this is an exclusive W-S product, I cannot even contact the manufacturer for redress. UPDATE: W-S management reviewed the case and approved a replacement. I am glad the company stands by its products, even though it took some effort to get to the right people.

    cracked!

I received this cutting board as a holiday gift last year and use it on weekends. I have been using Boos board cream to keep the board from drying out. Despite this, it has cracked down the middle. I brough the board back to my local store and they are not able to replace it since I didn't have a receipt (this was a gift). I was surprised that WS does not stand behind its own products. For the price, I would have expected a more durable product.
