    Summary

Staub's updated cast-iron braiser features a domed Chistera lid, named for the popular sport played in the Basque region of Spain. The lid's interior features drop-shaped spikes that collect moisture to provide continuous basting for succulent results. Rounded sides ease stirring and prevent sticking, and generous upturned handles enable seamless transport from oven to table while wearing oven mitts. Use this versatile pan for everything from slow-cooking to baking casseroles and roasting chicken.

    • Heavyweight enameled cast iron transfers and retains heat evenly.
    • Innovative domed Chistera lid promotes continual self-basting.
    • Multicoat enameling creates a glossy, vibrantly colored "majolique" finish that resembles fine ceramics.
    • Resistant to rust, chipping and cracking, the coating requires no additional seasoning like some other cast-iron pieces.
    • Ideal for use on all cooktops, including induction.
    • Made in France.
    • Commercial Grade: Thoughtfully designed and expertly engineered to meet rigorous standards and best practices from select commercial testing.

    Additional Information

    Use & Care

    Use

    Worth Every Penny

You simply can’t beat the investment in a Staub. I own the 5.5 quart cocotte and now this braiser. It’s a thing of beauty and a workhorse. Quality built and large with substantial weight. I don’t think I need any other pieces beyond these two as they can handle any cooking or baking job you throw at them. Staub is worth the investment as they will last a lifetime and I consider my two keepsakes to be handed down.

Built like a tank to last.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Staub makes great cast. Great even heat retention and you have to love the easy maintenance finish. While not necessary, I like to use a lard stick after a wash with a quick pass and wipe down. This is the companion to the Staub Dutch I bought years ago and still looks new. Now to figure out what to cook tonight.

La Mer color is beautiful, knob is undersized

I bought this braiser in the La Mer color, which is lovely. The size and shape of the pan makes it versatile, and I find myself reaching for it often. My only complaint is that the knob is too small for such a heavy lid, making it feel unwieldy and awkward to maneuver. I recently replaced the knob with the fish-shaped Staub knob and it is so much more comfortable to hold.

Been drooling over this for too long!

I love my enameled cast iron dutch ovens and use my Le Creuset skillet for many one pan meals. However, when it was finally time for a braiser, I chose Staub for the dark interior finish (less staining) , the higher sides, the broader base that has more contact with heat, and the inside of the lid that keeps moisture in. I used it for the first time today and it did not disappoint!

    The Perfect Pan!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This pan is beautiful! It is just the right size. It is solid but balance and and does not see heavy when lifting. Super versatile too! I look forward to the many delicious meals this pan will serve to my family.

I Own Two of These Braisers and...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] That should tell you how I feel about this pan! Frying in this pan is such a delight! Food turns out moist, tender and cooked to perfection! This can be your everyday pan. You can fry chicken, fish, steaks! You can roast beef, pork, bake a ham...anything!! Spaghetti sauce, scalloped potatoes, the list goes on! Before using this pan, make sure you wash and season it with oil, with your stove temperature on a low setting. I only do this for a few minutes, then I wipe out the excess oil and it’s ready to go. If you’re frying, I find it best to cook your food in a heated pan that’s set on a lower temperature, and I adjust the temperature up or down, if need be. Don’t try to turn your food over too quickly. If your food is sticking to the pan, the pan should release your food on its own and that’s when you should turn your food over. I know that some people do, but I don’t use metal utensils in my cookware, nor do I put any of them in the dishwasher! I find that cleaning my Staub pan is easy peasy. Just follow the instructions that come with your booklet and you should be good to go. I’m not a great cook, but I learned some of these trick by watching others on you tube or by trial and error! Staub makes a wonderful product and this beautiful dark blue braiser is no exception. I have a variety of pieces and I love them all! Happy cooking everyone!
