Prima Classe

The design and construction of this mixer is truly exceptional. Just by lifting it out of the packaging you can tell it is built sturdy. I've only used it once but I did exchange the mixing heads and it works like a breeze. I look forward to many years of (hopefully) reliable use.

Power is very significant in comparison to other brands, fluffier and lighter batter is very nice

Too expensive for results

This mixer has nothing to offer as far as results. I got this one 3 years ago and recently got an Ankarsrum (not sure why Williams Sonoma is not carrying this one) and realized how useless my Smeg mixer really is. I had the Kitchen Aid - never liked it either. The Ankarsrum at the same price makes Kneads dough far better (not even a match). The mincing attachment on the Ankarsrum really shows what mincing should be like - the smeg just turns it into some sort of Smeg (mush).

Meh not great

The Smeg mixer is not any better than a Kichen Aid. In fact, it’s a little more inconvenient because the parts are not interchangeable. I cannot order a glass bowl for it because it is an older model. There’s nothing about this mixer that gets the job done more easily or efficiently.

Major disappointment

I have had this mixer for 18 months and it is now out of warranty. It crapped out while mixing a meringue on a high speed with the wisk attachment. Started making a loud noise. My husband thinks it might be a ball joint. It dropped a bit of oil into the meringue. I called Smeg USA service and because it is out of warranty, there is not a whole hell of a lot they can do. The representative volunteered to send me a parts diagram to take to a local small appliance repair person and see if they can identify which part is required, and then "we will take it from there". I have used this mixer probably about twio to three times a month over the last 18 months. Honestly, I am not a heavy user. Another observation is that with regular cleaning, the graphics on the unit wiped right off! If you do end up buying this mixer, please know that once one year is up, you are on your own!

Would take this over my Kitchen Aid

I have used Kitchen Aid for over 20 years and was extremely happy with my mixer. As a surprise my husband purchased a Smeg for me. I love the design and the best part is the low setting is much better and slower than the Kitchen Aid I have. I have had no issues of anything crawling up the side of the bowl and would highly recommend to anyone.
